Find Out More About Viking Cruises
Viking Vela cruise ship was launched in 2024 as the latest addition to Viking’s ocean fleet. The cruise ship sails under the flag of Norway and has a capacity 998 passengers, offering a modern, intimate cruise experience that emphasises calm, comfort, and thoughtful design. Viking Vela reflects the newest innovations in the fleet, including expanded observation decks, increased natural light in public areas, and subtle refinements in stateroom layouts that enhance both space and comfort.
While the ship occasionally sails to popular European ports, including parts of the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, the onboard experience is the primary focus. With open communal areas, private retreats, and streamlined flow throughout the ship, Viking Vela encourages passengers to enjoy both the journey and the surroundings in a relaxed, serene environment.
Dining aboard the Viking Vela cruise ship is designed to combine elegance with approachability. The main restaurant offers open seating, allowing guests flexibility in when and how they enjoy their meals. Menus are inspired by international cuisine and emphasise high-quality ingredients, creative presentation, and flavours that complement the ship’s relaxed atmosphere.
Additional dining options include casual indoor and outdoor venues, where passengers can enjoy lighter meals, snacks, or alfresco dining with panoramic ocean views. The bars and lounges are designed for comfort and conversation, with soft live music enhancing the ambience. The onboard dining experience prioritises quality and atmosphere over spectacle, aligning with Viking Vela’s overall calm and refined ethos.
Accommodation on the Viking Vela cruise ship is a defining feature, with every stateroom including a private veranda. These cabins provide natural light, fresh air, and unobstructed views of the sea, allowing passengers to feel connected to the journey throughout. Interiors are designed in a contemporary Scandinavian style, combining neutral colours, clean lines, and practical layouts for maximum comfort.
Suites offer additional space, seating, and storage, while standard veranda staterooms remain spacious, well-appointed, and thoughtfully designed. The ship’s continuous maintenance programme ensures all cabins remain in excellent condition, giving guests a consistent, high-quality environment to relax and recharge between excursions.
The Viking Vela cruise ship takes a considered approach to onboard entertainment, favouring enrichment and meaningful engagement over high-energy shows. The programme includes lectures, talks, and interactive presentations that provide insight into art, history, and culture, reflecting Viking’s philosophy of thoughtful travel.
Evenings are relaxed, featuring live music, small performances, and intimate social spaces. Passengers can also enjoy quiet reading areas, film screenings, or informal lounges for conversation and reflection. Viking Ocean cruises focuses on creating a serene and immersive environment, allowing guests to enjoy both the ship and the journey in a measured, comfortable way.
